The Fundy Dental Community Project (FDCP) is a new program initiated by local dentists to provide basic dental services to motivated, low-income youth and adults to complete a treatment plan aimed at addressing their current dental disease. This program was developed to establish a healthy oral condition in qualified patients, and provide them with the education necessary to maintain their improved oral health status going forward. Applicants must meet all of the personal, financial and dental need criteria for acceptance into FDCP.

Fundy Dental Centre and the dentists involved in the Community Program are helping to subsidize the dentistry in FDCP. The patients are required to pay a nominal fee per hour of dental treatment (instead of the fee for service model), and any associated laboratory costs for their dental prostheses (dentures, appliances). To eliminate the laboratory cost and reduce the patient’s nominal fee per hour the Fundy Dental Community Association was established.

The Fundy Dental Community Association (FDCA) is a registered charity with a mandate to (1) finance laboratory fees for patients in the Community Project (2) make necessary changes to the FDCP Program Description as deemed appropriate and (3) allocate use of funds raised above the minimum requirements.  If fundraising efforts are successful, subsequent monies will be given to reduce the nominal fee patients are required to pay, therefore corporate sponsorship is vital to the long term viability of the Fundy Dental Community Project. More detail about the program description is available here (Program Description).

All monies donated to FDCA will support low-income patients in the Community Project and reduce their costs toward their subsidized dental treatment. In no way are the individual dentists involved in the project able to benefit from your donation or profit from their participation in the project.
